Art Blog: Here She Goes AGAIN!

This is exactly why you will never hear me whining about getting old. I am growing into myself just like my mentors. I truly believe artists don’t get old, they just get better.

Don't think of it as whining. Think of it as a continual meditation on getting older - just maybe sometimes a bit high pitched. Remember, it's not what you do or how you do it -- it's how you label it.

No Nancy, I do think of it as whining. When I hear people complaining or blaming things on age, to me it is whining. You are right, it is how you label it. I am not preoccupied with my age. I am thankful I am still living and getting a chance to keep growing as an artist year after year after year.

Age is a funny thing. Everytime I think about dying my hair to get rid of the white in the front, i look in the mirror and am so glad to see this evidence of two things----continued survival, and a reference to family heritage, as a great-uncle who I never had the chance to meet had the same exact pattern to his grey hair!

I too am thankful for the continued ability to see the sunrise, and go to my studio to make art!

Gilda,
I totally agree with you. I just don't have time to worry about all this getting old stuff. I am just too busy. Also like I have said before, all my mentors are really old woman, so I am glad I am growing up to be like them.

Did you see SUNDAY MORNING today? Estelle Parsons was interviewed. She is 80 and doing a Broadway show. She mentioned how so much of our society has this vision of what OLD is. She doesn't believe in it. In fact, she said if she thought about it, she would feel obligated to hunch over and be depressed. So she doesn't give her age a second thought. LOL LOL LOL That is my kind of woman!!!!

P.S. Don't you DARE dye your hair. I love it more and more every time I see you!!! If I had beautiful silver hair like that, I would stop bleaching mine. However, I don't. I have this mousy light brown with thin, ugly brownish grey strands. Forget that! I will keep my day glow blond until I die.
